Trump Insists Deal To End Shutdown Was 'In No Way A Concession,' He Did It For 'Badly' Hurting Federal Workers

President Trump posted a tweet Friday about his deal to end the shutdown.

President Trump took to Twitter on Friday and defended the short-term deal to end the partial government shutdown without new funds for the border wall.
"I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall," Trump wrote. "This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it's off to the races!"
The tweet came hours after Trump made the announcement about the deal.
The plan would "reopen shuttered government departments for three weeks while leaving the issue of $5.7 billion for a U.S.-Mexico border wall to further talks," notes the Washington Post.
Trump's announcement sparked numerous reactions on Twitter.
Axios' Jonathan Swan wrote: "A former White House official texts me, unsolicited: 'Trump looks pathetic...he just ceded his presidency to Nancy Pelosi.'"
"I'm happy federal workers will be paid but @realDonaldTrump just allowed Nancy to walk all over him," tweeted conservative commentator Tomi Lahren. "It's President Trump, not President Pelosi. Act like it."
