Bernie Van Tiel AKA “BVT” is a singer/songwriter, rapper, beatboxer, guitar player, actor, dancer and MC.
After graduating the talent development project in 2013, Bernie was immediately scouted into an acting program at the international screen academy. By 2016, she graduated with an advanced diploma in contemporary screen acting and media. During her time there, she was cast as the lead actor in the new, multi award winning supernatural series, “Jade of Death”. This role soon lead to Bernie’s discovery by Sophie Jermyn management, who now manage Bernie’s acting career, landing her multiple gigs, but most notably her most recent role as lead character “Kali” in The Mother Load (pilot available on TML FB page) and a guest appearance on “Talkin’ Bout Your Generation”, hosted by Shaun Mcalleff.
Bernie is a well known beatboxer in the Sydney community and one of few female beatboxers in Australia, often MC’ing Aus Champs annually.
Bernie is also known for hosting Australia’s best and largest international dance competition, “World Supremacy Battlegrounds”, which has been home to such known dancers as Parris Goebel (NZ Royal Family Dance Crew).
During Bernie’s early music career, she toured with Pete Murray (2013 Byron sessions tour), performed alongside Timomatic and Samantha Jade, and has played pre show foyer entertainment for P!nk, Jason Derulo and Macklemore.
For her next project, BVT plans to fuse her worlds or acting, music, film and dance to bring out new self devised projects that’ll change the way we look at young, queer, female creatives of colour, and rock the globe with her talent and ambition.
