President Trump on Saturday weighed in on special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
"On the Mueller situation, we're very happy with what we are reading," Trump told reporters. "There was no collusion whatsoever. There never has been."
"The last thing I want is help from Russia on a campaign," Trump added. "You should ask Hillary Clinton about Russia because she financed the fake dossier."
His remarks came a day after some key court filings.
"The court filings released Friday by Robert Mueller and federal prosecutors detail the alleged lies Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort told both publicly and to the special counsel's investigators," CNN reported.
Regarding Cohen, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York recommended a "substantial" prison term and fleshed out charges "related to violations of campaign finance laws in 2016. For the first time, government prosecutors themselves directly implicated Trump in those violations," notes the Washington Post.
The court documents also mention "a contact Cohen received in 2015 from a 'Russian national' seeking 'synergy' between the campaign and the Russian government," according to the Post.
