Chris returns from Sydney with some devastating news; she has an inoperable tumour on her aorta. She discusses her fears with Geoff and agrees to take the medication she has been prescribed in the hope that it will work. Geoff becomes overprotective but Chris is adamant to keep things normal. She also confides in Jack. Mick and Julia, arrive in town and Mick soon begins co-ordinating the town's fun run. The town is dealt a blow when Mick's participation in the race leads to a tragedy. Kate tells Geoff she is only staying in town for Chris’ sake.
