Michelle Obama Responds To Eric Holder's 'Kick Them' Remark

Michelle Obama on Thursday stood by her recommended, “when they go low, we go high,” approach to politics.

Former first lady Michelle Obama recently stood by her recommended, "when they go low, we go high," approach to politics.  In a Thursday morning interview with NBC's 'Today' show, Obama was asked about former Attorney General Eric Holder's take on her famous statement from the 2016 Democratic National Convention.  Holder said at a political rally on Sunday about the Republicans, "When they go low, we kick 'em. That's what this new Democratic Party is about."
Notably, in the days following Holder's comment, Hillary Clinton told CNN, "You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about…the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength."    Obama said in regard to both statements: "Fear is not...a proper motivator. Hope wins out. And if you think about how you want your kids to be raised, how you want them to think about life & their opportunities, do you want them afraid of their neighbors? Do you want them angry? Do you want them vengeful?" "If we think of the values we try to promote to our children…which motto do you want them to live by?" the former first lady further remarked.
