Around 30 US Navy ships sailed from naval bases in Virginia’s Hampton Roads on Monday, September 10, to weather Hurricane Florence in the Atlantic.The ships and submarines sailed from Naval Station Norfolk and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, while land crews worked to secure the facilities and prepared sandbags for the impact of the Category 4 storm later this week.“Our ships can better weather storms of this magnitude when they are underway,” said US Fleet Forces Commander Admiral Christopher Grady in a statement.
