Sections of Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province remained in shambles on October 2, about half a week after a devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Palu and nearby districts of Donggala, Sigi and Parigi Moutong on September 28.This chaotic footage is described as showing the moment waves of mud, – the result from soil liquefaction that happened after the magnitude 7.5 quake – struck Jono Oge, a village in Sulawesi’s Sigi regency.Soil liquefaction is a phenomenon during which loose or wet soil acts like a fluid due to intense pressure during an earthquake. Indonesian officials said soil liquefaction destroyed homes in Palu and Sigi regency.On Wednesday, Indonesia’s disaster management agency raised the death toll to 1,374, with another 113 people missing.
