Residents in the town of Broken Hill, New South Wales, rejoiced on Wednesday, October 3. when a thunderstorm struck, bringing heavy rains to the drought-afflicted region.Several hours earlier, an intense dust storm swept through Broken Hill, forcing locals to hide in their homes.The town received 34.2 mm of rain overnight after the dust storm passed, according to the ABC, double the amount reported for the whole year to date.In this video, a dark thunderstorm can be seen over Broken Hill on Wednesday evening.Rain could be expected in much of Sydney, the Central Tablelands and central-western New South Wales.
