The first sun bear cub to be born in the UK has emerged from her den at Chester Zoo to explore the outdoor enclosure with her mother by her side.Chester Zoo provided images and video of the yet-to-be-named sun bear cub’s ventures on September 7, writing that she “had several minor tumbles as she tried to keep up with mum, Milli.”The Curator of Mammals at Chester Zoo, Tim Rowlands, said in a press release, "The new cub has plenty of enthusiasm but, at just 12 weeks old, she’s still somewhat wobbly on her legs. She’ll soon find her feet though and it won’t be long until mum Milli really has her paws full. Her little one will quickly gain in confidence; become more and more excitable and look to explore. That’s when her parenting skills will be given a new test. We’re sure she’ll come through it with flying colours though – she’s proving to be a great mum so far.”The cub’s parents, Milli and Toni, are the first adult sun bears to have lived in the zoo since 1976, and have been residents there since 2015. Both bears were rescued as cubs from poachers in Cambodia. Credit: Chester Zoo via Storyful
