A San Diego-based firefighter couldn’t resist challenging a local retirement home’s keenest ping-pong player to a game on August 28, though his 101-year-old opponent proved to be more than a match for him.The firefighter, Nick Plancich, spotted the elderly woman playing the game by herself while he was assisting another elderly resident who was in need of emergency services.He was told that the 101-year-old woman was “always looking for a worthy ping-pong opponent,” and when Plancich finished assisting the patient-in-need into an ambulance, he returned to the elderly athlete and challenged her to a game.According to Facebook post from the Department, the elderly woman “proved to be a winner,” and can be seen winning a point in footage shared.The video of a rally between the unlikely rivals was shared to Facebook on August 29, and it had over 877 shares at the time of writing.
