A huge fire engulfed Brazil’s 200-year-old National Museum in Rio de Janerio on Sunday, September 2.Globo reported that most of the museum’s collection, about 20 million items, were totally destroyed. They reported that no one was injured in the fire, the cause of which was unknown.President of Brazil, Michel Temer, tweeted that the loss of the collection of the National Museum was “incalculable.” He wrote: “200 years of work, research and knowledge have been lost.”The National Museum was a former home of the Portuguese royal family.
