This track is a piece of dark and eerie ambient soundtrack that was included in the Demo Version of "The Dig" - a point&click adventure game developed and released by LucasArts in 1995. It can be heard inside the alien shipwreck, which is located southwest on central canyon island of Cocytus.
It was extracted, extended and remastered (not perfectly though) by me. Enjoy! NOTE: The track title is unofficial and it belongs only to my creativity ;)
There are lots of notable differences between the demo and final release of the game and these also affect the music. As the full game's soundtrack focuses on orchestral, Wagnerian-like tone, the demo is rather an example of dark/space ambient digital sound. There are couple of theories, explaining why demo version is so much different, compared to the final release, despite the fact it was published only a few months prior. The most convincing is the one, which assumes, that demo's music is actually a placeholder and was used, while the official game's soundtrack (along with dialogues and some gameplay/technical features) was still being produced at the time. Another interesting theory states that the 'placeholder' itself was taken from a second version of the game, which was under development led by Brian Moriarty (fun fact: the game was in production for six years and it went through three various teams. The final game was made by the 3rd eventual team under Sean Clark's control. Interestingly enough, lots of works and elements from Moriarty's version were kept in Clark's game, mostly due to time and costs spent on overall development). Additional confirmation to these statements is the existence of leftovers, that can be found in demo's internal files and which may also suggest, the demo version in general was made quick of what was basicaly left from Moriarty's game - therefore, there certainly was a lot MORE material, that was supposed to be used.
