Young teachers Rory and Sam start the competition in Cumbria with a menu that takes a tour of Europe, while fun-loving fifty-somethings John and Sally wonder at the bickering of chalk-and-cheese Sarka and Paul. The evening culminates in a musical extravaganza. On day two Sarka and Paul's massive Czech portions defeat everyone, except the ever-hungry Rory. Finally, John and Sally are out to prove something with their retro 1980s-inspired menu. And their guests are surprised to find out that John isn't a used car salesman or a Paul Daniels look-alike.
