Vincenzo Nibali Abandons Tour de France With Broken Vertebrae After Stage 12 Crash

Italian cyclist Vincenzo Nibali was forced to abandon the Tour de France due to injuries he sustained after he crashed during stage 12 of the competition in Huez on July 19.Nibali, a Behrain-Merida team member, collided with spectators around 3.8 kilometres away from the stage finish in Huez, France.The Italian managed to rejoin the race and close the gap on the leaders but exited the Tour after learning the severity of his injuries.Speaking to Italian media, Bahrain-Merida team doctor Emilio Magni said the subsequent scan confirmed what they feared. “There’s a fracture of the T10 vertebra.
