President Trump went after Jeff Flake in a tweet on Thursday.
President Trump blasted Republican Senator Jeff Flake over his potential 2020 run. "How could Jeff Flake, who is setting record low polling numbers in Arizona and was therefore humiliatingly forced out of his own Senate seat without even a fight (and who doesn't have a clue), think about running for office, even a lower one, again? Let's face it, he's a Flake!" Trump tweeted on Thursday. The Arizona senator said on Sunday's 'Meet The Press' that he hasn't ruled out running in the next presidential election. Flake has been a vocal critic of Trump and Republican lawmakers who are reluctant to speak out against the president. "When the president says things that are just totally wrong, it's the responsibility of members of Congress, particularly those in the president's party, to stand up and say, 'That is not right. Truth is not relative,'" Flake noted in the NBC interview. In announcing his plan to retire from the Senate, Flake said in October, "It is often said that children are watching. Well, they are. And what are we going to do about that? When the next generation asks us, 'Why didn't you do something? Why didn't you speak up?' What are we going to say?"
