Man attempts to break world record for the longest ironing marathon

Gareth Sanders, 28, started the challenge in Bristol (26/10) and will aim to complete 15 items an hour over four days. The cleaning company manager is used to crazy stunts, having previously run a mile every hour for 100 miles, but none that requires this level of concentration. He must stay standing for the entire challenge, apart from on rest periods, and must not pause for longer than 30 seconds between items. He estimates the longest nap he will get will be 20 minutes, and will rely on snacks to keep him going as he irons in the forecourt of the 24-hour Asda in Patchway, Bristol. But he says his attempt entirely depends on the public donating enough clothes for him to press and finishing each item of clothing to a very high standard. "I have been sent a rulebook by Guinness World Records with about 80 different points that I have to follow for the attempt to be valid," he said. "It's definitely the most unique challenge I've ever done. I think I'm going to do about 20 items per hour, and they have to be a range of sizes, so I need the public to drop off their clothes.’
