Francesco Tricarico nasce a Milano il 31 dicembre 1971. Figlio di un aviatore, morto quando Francesco è ancora bambino, comincia a suonare fin da ragazzo diplomandosi in flauto traverso presso il Conservatorio di Milano.
Gira i locali milanesi con una piccola band suonando jazz e si esibisce per qualche mese anche a Parigi.
Tricarico fa il suo esordio nel panorama della musica leggera nazionale nel 2000 con la canzone autobiografica "Io sono Francesco", che arriva al primo posto della classifica dei singoli più venduti: la stessa viene premiata con un disco di platino e con vari riconoscimenti e nomination (una al P.I.M. come "Canzone dell'anno" e una agli Italian Music Awards prima e seconda edizione). Per via di alcuni contenuti la sua canzone subisce alcune censure in radio (nella canzone Tricarico definisce "puttana" la sua maestra delle elementari per aver ferito la sua sensibilità imponendogli di fare un tema sul padre, sapendo che non era più in vita).
Francesco Tricarico inizialmente pensa di non pubblicare nessun album, ma di incidere solo singoli, con al massimo due canzoni. "Drago" è il suo secondo singolo, caratterizzato dal testo molto allegorico che, nonostante possa sembrare banale ed infantile ad un primo ascolto, ottiene diversi consensi positivi di critica, anche se non riesce a replicare il successo ottenuto dal brano d'esordio.
Il terzo singolo esce nel 2001 e si chiama "La pesca": il pezzo riceve recensioni positive confermando il grande profilo artistico dell'autore.
Nel mese di giugno 2001 è ospite del "Premio Città di Recanati - Nuove tendenze della Canzone Popolare e d'Autore" dove Tricarico si esibisce per la prima volta dal vivo, proponendo "Io sono Francesco" e "La Neve Blu" (canzone presente nel singolo "Drago") con piano e voce.
Francesco Tricarico was born in Milan on December 31st 1971. The son of an aviator, died when Francesco is still a child, he began playing as a boy graduating in flute at the Conservatory of Milan.
He toured the Milanese clubs with a small band playing jazz and performed for a few months in Paris too.
Tricarico makes his debut in the national light music scene in 2000 with the autobiographical song "Io sono Francesco", which comes in first place in the list of best-selling singles: the same is awarded with a platinum record and with various awards and nominations (one at PIM as "Song of the Year" and one at the Italian Music Awards first and second edition). Because of some content his song undergoes some complaints on the radio (in the song Tricarico calls his teacher of elementary "bitch" for having hurt his sensibility imposing him to make a theme on his father, knowing that he was no longer alive).
Francesco Tricarico initially thinks not to publish any albums, but to record only singles, with at most two songs. "Drago" is his second single, characterized by the very allegorical text that, although it may seem trivial and childish at first listening, gets several positive reviews of criticism, even if it fails to replicate the success of the debut piece.
The third single comes out in 2001 and is called "La pesca": the piece receives positive reviews confirming the great artistic profile of the author.
In June 2001 he was guest of the "Città di Recanati Award - New Trends of the Popular and Author Song" where Tricarico performed for the first time live, proposing "I am Francesco" and "La Neve Blu" (song present) in the single "Drago") with piano and voice.
