This project can be made from single sheet of plywood in couple of hours!

I don’t own a working table saw so I had my plywood precut in the home center. The plywood I am using is 7/8” thick birch plywood. The rails and the legs were only rip cut to 4” width, so I used my sliding miter saw to cross cut the pieces. I sneaked on the cuts and dry fitted the pieces to have perfectly fitting parts.

After I had cut all of the pieces I started assembling the table top and the bottom shelf. The rails are butt jointed together with glue and number eight screws. The screws are basically working as clamps. Longer rails on the top are 48” long and the sorter rails are 22 ¼” inches long. Table top is 48” by 24”. The top is attached using glue and screws. Add more screws until you have even glue squeeze out. I strongly suggest you pre drill your holes to avoid any misshaps.

The bottom shelf is assembled the same way as the top. The rails are 44 ½” inches and 18 ¾” long. The shelf is 44 ½” by 20 ½”.
The legs for the table are 35“ long. If you are using the table as an outfeed table you should cut the legs so that your table top is about half inch below the table saw top. I am 5’ 9” and the table height seems to work for me, but if you are significantly taller of shorter than me you can have the legs cut to suit your height. The legs are lap joined to the rails with glue and screws. The table is assembled more easily upside down. I used a clamp to hold the legs in the position while attaching the legs. Use a square to have your legs straight.

I cut some spacers to help install the shelf. On my table there is a cap of 18” between the shelf and the top. I didn’t use any glue installing the bottom shelf to the legs, mainly because I am lazy, but adding some wood glue to the lap joints wouldn’t hurt.

After I had my table assembled I gave it a light sanding mainly to remove any glue residue. I am planning on varnishing the table but I didn’t have any suitable finish around, so I’ll be doing that in the future. Jay Bates and April Wilkerson made kinda similar table for Nick Ferry a few years back, I have a link below if you want to check that out
.
I have a free ScketchUp file you can download from the link below. In the file there is a 3D model together with a cut list for the plywood.
