Gentile è un ragazzo di Roma Sud cresciuto nella musica punk rock, passando per il metal, il funk e le melodie soul per poi condensare tutto in un energia nuova durante la sua crescita professionale. Negli ambienti della musica romana, ancora sedicenne, suonava in una band punk rock, mentre dai 18 è membro dei Motherwhig, gruppo metal in cui rimane fino al 2012. Nel 2017 si delinea il suo progetto musicale, la voce di Gentile si arricchisce di una band di 5 elementi: Giulio Pantalei (Panta) alla chitarra, Giordano Nardecchia (Airesis) al basso, Riccardo Bala alla batteria e Susanna Sallemi alle tastiere. Assieme a loro, chiude il primo lavoro discografico presso il The Lab studio. Gentile è una maniera di non definire la propria musica. Un gioco al contrasto. Un ossimoro sinestetico. Canta in inglese ma con lo spirito romano, accompagnato dal suo timbro graffiato, il ritmo blues e un beat incalzante. È un'anima soul rinchiusa in un corpo punk in cui il contrasto immagine e sound è forte tanto quanto quello tra nome e identità. Tutt'altro che “gentile”, infatti, è il suo modo di fare live, molto energico e caciarone; un live fisico, sudato e violento in cui l'artista si libera dagli schemi dell'accademismo musicale. L'imperativo è sporcare e restituire al pubblico una sensazione di autentico, di ruvidità e di forte connessione.
Gentile is a boy from South Rome, grew up in punk rock/metal/funk/soul music. This heterogeneous influences make up a new energy in his musical path. In the underground scenario of Rome, he used to play in punk rock and metal bands, like Motherwhig. In 2017 his project take shape, and Gentile’s voice is accompanied by Giulio Pantalei (guitars), Giordano Nardecchia (bass), Riccardo Bala (drums) and Susanna Sallemi (keyboards): with them Gentile records his first works at The Lab Studio. Gentile is a “no-way” of “non-defining” his music. It’s a high contrast play, a synesthetic oxymoron. He sings in English but with a Roman attitude, with a gravel voice, a blues rhythm and a tight beat. Soul music in a punk body. His live act is everything but “Gentile” (the Italian word to say “kind, soft”), energic and chaotic, his performance is physical, sweaty, violent, out of the box of the academic music. His imperative is to dirty and give back to the audience an authentic sensation of roughness and strong connection.
