नाबिलग लड़की की शादी करना कानूनन अपराध है । पर ये बात शायद के पिता को पता नहीं थी । उत्तराखंड के अल्मोड़ा जिले के एक गांव में नाबालिग लड़की के पिता ने जेल जाने के डर से अपनी पुत्री की शादी कैंसल कर दी और बारात को रास्ते से ही लौटा दिया। राजस्व पुलिस आने की भनक लगने से पहले ही नाबालिग दुल्हन के पिता ने बारात लौटा कर अपनी जान बचाई , पिता का कहना है कि उसे ये पता नहीं था कि नाबालिग का विवाह करना अपराध है ।
