A DEADLY crocodile with a helpless impala locked in its jaws stunned onlookers with what it did next. The remarkable video – shot near a river in Etosha National Park in Namibia – shows the giant reptile munching on its prey’s legs.

It appears the last remnants of life are seeping out of the creature as it pants ferociously.

But then something incredible happens. The crocodile suddenly releases his death grip and turns around to slink back into the river.

Immediately, the impala jumped up and ran away – probably counting its lucky stars that it is still alive.

The cameraman who shot the video on September 12 suggested it was the unusual environment for the croc that let it let go of his prey.“A pack of wild dogs chased an impala to a river and a crocodile was able to catch it,” he said.

“But because the crocodile was out of its element it wasn’t able to do a proper death roll to tear the impala into pieces and so decided to let it go.”

It comes after a crocodile was filmed fighting with a shark over a scrap of fish.
