The coffee shop is dead. All hail the coffee bar. At G&B in Grand Central Market, shout your order to the barkeep at the wraparound counter, grab a stool, and mingle with your fellow patrons the way you would at any neighborhood bar—just, y’know, before noon, and with a different kind of brown stuff in your glass.Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski (G&B, get it?) opened up shop in 2013 and, their drinks quickly set a new standard for L.A. coffee. The ALMOND MACADAMIA LATTE (cow milk is so 2008) has plenty of nutty sweetness to offset the bitter espresso. Or go for the BUSINESS AND PLEASURE, a shot of espresso chased by a short pour of almond macadamia cappuccino. Sip it alongside like-minded coffee snobs, or take it with you over to Eggslut where you’ll scarf a breakfast sandwich. Whatever you choose, you’re in for one of the best espresso pulls in town.
