Exclusive: ISIS underground tunnel network discovered near Salamiyah

A network of underground tunnels used by Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) was discovered in a retaken village on the eastern outskirts of Salamiyah, Hama province, as shown in footage captured Monday.

The extremist group used the underground tunnels to shelter from airstrikes and move from building to building.

One of the tunnels has an area of 50 square metres (538.19 square feet), as well as five rooms for meetings and training.

The battle to retake the entirety of Syria's Hama province from IS militants is ongoing.
