Want to take a side trip from India to Nepal? It's a popular thing to do and there are a number of ways to go about it, depending on how much money you're prepared to spend.

If you want to fly and get some awesome Himalayan views, Delhi to Kathmandu is the least expensive route by air to Nepal. Otherwise, the best option is to take a train and then a bus.

India and Nepal share a open border but any foreign visitor entering Nepal via land are supposed to use only the mention points as the entry point. The entry point's are
Kakkarvitta ,
Birgunj ,
Belhiya Sunauli/ Bhairawa ,
Nepalgunj ,
Dhangadi and
Mahendranagar

The border is open for 24 hours but it closes for vehicles at 10 p.m... However, it's best not to arrive there late at night. It can be dangerous, particularly on the Indian side.

Before crossing Indian border stop at Indian immigration office to get a departure stamp on your passport and as soon as you cross the border stop at Nepali immigration office to get your visa on arrival. It will take more less 20min to get your visa on arrival.

Important tips:-

Make sure that you have some US dollars to pay your visa fees.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months and you should have some free pages on your passport for visa and stamp.

Don't buy a bus ticket before you cross the India- Nepal border. Many people can ask you to buy a bus ticket before you enter in Nepal.

Make sure you arrive the border at morning time.
After you get your visa please check the stamp date.
Don’t exchange your money at the border area.
