Linkin Park: ‘In a situation like that it’s hard to think optimistically’

Rockband Linkin Park is back with their seventh album One More Light, but it didn’t come without its setbacks. In 2015, at the start of a tour, lead singer Chester Bennington broke his leg, which sent him into a deep depression. Frustrated with his situation, the last thing Bennington wanted to do was write music. Eventually, after his leg had healed and his anger had faded, the band was able to channel some of his frustration into what would become One More Light. “If we had started writing in 2015 we would be singing songs about ‘fuck the world.’ I still have lyrics in my phone, one of the songs is called ‘I Hate The World,’ and that was the whole chorus.”
