The leader of ISIS in Afghanistan, Abdul Hasib, was killed in a raid carried out by Afghan special security forces and U.S. troops on April 27. The operation involved around 50 U.S. army rangers and dozens of Afghan troops. Hasib was appointed as Afghan's ISIS leader after his predecessor Hafiz Saeed Khan was killed in a U.S. drone strike. Two rangers were killed in the operation that was believed to be a friendly fire from Afghan troops.
