While reticulated pythons don’t typically hunt humans, an unfortunate exception recently occurred on Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island.

Reticulated pythons are among the largest snakes in the world and "suffocate their victims before swallowing them whole," notes the BBC.

While they don’t typically hunt humans, an unfortunate exception recently occurred on Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island.
25-year-old Akbar Salubiro had gone missing on March 26, and not long after concerned friends and neighbors went out in search of him, reports The Independent.
What they found was an especially bloated, 23-foot-long reticulated python.
Suspecting the snake was responsible for Salubiro’s disappearance, the group cut it open, notes USA Today.
Inside they found the lifeless body of the missing man.
According to the Associated Press, located not far from the python were some items belonging to Salubiro.
While the most massive among the species are clearly capable of swallowing an adult person, they generally target wild boar, primates, and dogs.
