More than 21,000 lbs of frozen pizzas are being recalled due to the possibility of listeria contamination. The RBR Meat Company Inc. recalled its Marketside Extra Large Supreme Pizza which may have been contaminated with “Listeria monocytogenes.” The pizzas were shipped to Walmart distribution centers in California, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. The USDA classifies this as a “Class I” recall, meaning “its a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” Listeriosis is a serious infection caused by contaminated food, with 1,600 cases reported in the US this year. The FSIS wants those who bought the product to throw it away or return them to the place of purchase.
