Japan rejects Trump's claims of currency manipulation

Policymakers in Japan blasted President Trump after he accused the country of manipulating currency rates. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe defended the Bank of Japan, stating that its actions are intended to reflate the economy and not manipulate currency. "If Japan's economy improves, that's not a bad thing for the United States," Abe told the parliament on Wednesday. In addition to Japan, Trump, and his trade adviser, Peter Navarro, also criticized China and Germany, claiming they were devaluing their currencies to take advantage of the U.S.
