FEC Cites Trump Campaign For 1100 Errors

President-elect Donald Trump may have won the election, but his campaign is still being held accountable for numerous errors in its most recent filing to the Federal Election Commission, or FEC.

According to CNN, “The FEC determined that the Trump campaign accepted close to 1,100 donations, which amounted to roughly $1.3 million, that violated one of a handful of campaign finance laws.”

A letter notifying the campaign’s treasurer, Timothy Jost, of these issues is dated November 20th.

It points out that some of Trump’s contributions were made by unregistered organizations and that some groups and individuals exceeded maximum donation limits; it also notes problems with refunds and in-kind contributions.

However, CNN quotes an expert as indicating that “the FEC letter is fairly routine.”

The Commission has given the Trump campaign a deadline of December 27th to respond.
