Making a Murderer's Brendan Dassey to remain in prison, appeals court says

A Wisconsin appeals court ruled Thursday that Brendan Dassey, who was 16 when he confessed to helping his uncle and rape and murder a woman, must remain behind bars while the state works on its appeal of a lower judge's decision to overturn his conviction. Dassey, who was the subject of the Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer, was ordered to be released by the same lower court which overturned Dassey's conviction in August. Dassey was found guilty in 2007 of participating in the killing of Teresa Halbach, a 25-year-old photographer, in Manitowoc, Wis. and was scheduled to be released Friday night.
