Judge orders Making a Murderer's Brendan Dassey to be released from prison

A federal judge has ordered the release of Brendan Dassey, the man convicted of helping his uncle kill a woman in a case profiled in the popular Netflix series “Making a Murderer.” Dassey was convicted of several crimes in 2007 in connection with Halbach's death, including being party to first-degree intentional homicide, mutilation of a corpse, as well as second-degree sexual assault. His attorneys have argued their client's confession was unconstitutionally coerced. The case gained national attention after Netflix aired "Making a Murderer" last year. The series spawned widespread assumption about his, and his uncle Steven Avery's innocence.
