The church is the temple of God being built up with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and your personal intercessory prayers for their sins to be forgiven is the way they can be presented as gold, silver and precious stones before the judgment seat of Christ. If you neglect to love, care and pray for them, they will perish as stubble, hay or wood and you will have to suffer loss.
