ORLANDO, FLORIDA — The body of a boy who was grabbed by an alligator in front of his parents at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday night has been found by police.
According to CNN, 2-year-old Lane Graves was playing in about a foot of water in the Seven Seas Lagoon when the alligator surfaced and grabbed him near the Grand Floridian resort. His father Matt struggled with the animal, and his mother tried to help as well, to no avail. A lifeguard was also unable to rescue the child, Reuters reported.
Divers found the child’s body on Wednesday afternoon floating close to where the attack took place, Reuters reported. Officials have killed and opened up five alligators during the search for the child.
Authorities say there are signs warning people from swimming at the lagoon. However there are none specifically warning about alligators, Reuters reported, citing a Disney spokeswoman.
