LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police have ruled out murder in the case of a California woman who plunged 15 floors to her death down a hotel laundry chute.
The body of legal secretary Kalli Medina-Brown was discovered by staff at the D Las Vegas at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, KTNV reported.
Police initially said Medina's Brown's death was suspicious but have ruled out foul play after an investigation, according to KTNV.
Medina-Brown was in Las Vegas with her husband Weslee and some friends to celebrate her upcoming 27th birthday.
Police told family members surveillance footage from inside the D hotel showed her walking one way while her husband walked another, Medina-Brown's grandfather Tony Fratis said in an interview with KTNV. Medina-Brown then entered a housekeeping closet on the 18th floor.
Medina-Brown plunged 15 floors to her death down the laundry chute, landing in the laundry collection area on the hotel's third floor.
Fratis told KTNV there was no way his granddaughter would have committed suicide.
The Clark County coroner has not yet released the cause of death, KTNV reported.
