Marcos is a lonely, Argentinean computer whiz- think geek squad, not genius bar- living in New York City. Marcos finds comfort in gadgets and technology networks and is isolated from most human interaction or any type of social network. In an attempt to make his way into some sort of social scene and find a balance between technology and emotion, Marcos seeks companionship by awkwardly navigating his way through the dating website MeetMeImGreat.com. He finally scores a date with Amy- a fellow 1/4 Argentinean-and naively assumes that true, life-long romance will come of this meeting.

For their date-Marcos and Amy decide to check out some live music in a gritty hipster-ridden club that Amy frequents. Marcos is exposed to a whole new world of people, music, style, culture, and social interaction. He is thrilled and believes this date is just the beginning of his social awakening. However, Marcos hair gel, white sneakers, and severe language barrier very obviously dont match up with Amys expectations.

Although a standard nerdy guy meets mean girl story, WHEN YOU NEED THEM is a complex social commentary on the age of Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter, examining how we communicate, interact, perceive, and cope with human behavior and expectations. Of course, this complex social commentary includes a fast paced subway choreography sequence and is set to completely original music written by Contramano.
