Mexico: Journalism Can Be A Dangerous Career Choice

The dangers inherent in being a journalist in Mexico were again highlighted over the weekend when the home of Gloria Muñoz, director of the independent media outlet Desinformemonos was ransacked, with work-related tools missing. Muñoz notes that there has not been a single case of those responsible for the many attacks on journalists being brought to justice. Key to a successful defense of journalists' rights are ties to civil society, as the lack of citizen awareness and protest make such attacks on the press easier.
