Johnny Clarke is a legendary singer from the 70s roots reggae. Most of his memorable pages were written during that decade and under the direction of the great Bunny Lee. Prolific and versatile artist, Johnny sang hundreds of songs such as “Lovers” and a large variety of versions of Jamaican classics, among which we find many of Bob Marley’s hits.
We notice an early example of the attitude of the dancehall singers of the 80s in his great ability to please producers with different styles and to provide excellent “do-overs” of old riddims. Johnny Clarke’s voice never changed over the years and we can't wait to hear it in this concert, which marks his very first show at Rototom Sunsplash.
