"How to Make Cake at Home On Special Occasion - By Maria Goretti
It's Festival Time, and no such treat is complete without the traditional, rum filled, fruit-filled Cake. This amazing cake can be made anytime at home. Enjoy the flavour of festival right into your mouth.
Ingredients used in making the Cake are:
- 120 gm All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tsp Cocoa Powder
- 50 gm Black Raisins
- 50 gm of Raisins
- 50 gm Candied Cherry
- 50 gm Candied Pineapple
- 50 gm Candied Mixed Fruit
- 50 gm Candied Papaya
- Handful Cashew
- 3 Eggs
- 2 tsp Jam
- 1 tsp Golden Syrup
- 10 ml Caramel Color
- 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 100 gm Unsalted Butter
- 100 gm Demerara Sugar
- 2 Handful of Chocolate Buttons
- 1 tsp All Spice
- 2 tbsp Milk
- Rum
- Juice of 2 oranges
How to make the festival special Cake :
1) Take 120 gm of All Purpose Flour in a bowl and add 1/2 tsp Baking Powder and 2 tsp Cocoa Powder to the flour and sieve them together.
2) Add raisins, all candied fruits and a handful of cashews to the flour and mix them.
3) Separate the egg whites and put them in the beating bowl and keep the yellow part separately.
4) Add 2 tsp of Jam of your choice, 1 tsp of Golden Syrup, 10 ml Caramel, 1 tsp of Vanilla Essence and 2 tsp of Cinnamon to the yolks and whisk them.
5) Take 100 gm of Unsalted Butter in a bowl and add 100 gm of Demerara Sugar to it and whisk them well.
6) Add egg yolk mix to the butter and Demerara Sugar mix. Whisk them.
7) Add 2 Handful of Chocolate Buttons to the Dry Mix and stir them. Add 1 tsp of All Spice and stir again.
8) Whisk the eggs really stiff.
9) Put the dry mix to the egg yolk and the butter and Demerara Sugar mix and whisk them.
10) Add the egg whites to the cake mix and mix them together.
11) Add 2 tbsp of Milk to the cake mix and put the cake batter in a baking tin.
12) Keep the cake batter into Oven for almost 1 hour 15 mins at 150 degrees.
13) After 1 hour 15 mins, your cake is ready. Make lots of holes on the cake using a toothpick.
14) Stir the Rum and the juice of 2 oranges together and then pour them slowly over the cake.
