The longest known chain of continental volcanoes on Earth has been discovered in Australia, according to a new study. 
It spans more than 1,200 miles, starting from Cape Hillsborough on the northeastern coast and continuing southward to the other end through Cosgrove in Victoria. 
Named the Cosgrove hotspot track, after one of the extinct volcanoes along the pathway, it is almost three times longer than the well-known system in Yellowstone.
