Chile: Santiago Airport Strike Stops All Flights
- 9 years ago
Flights have been suspended across Chile as airport employees hold a 24-hour strike over working conditions and pensions. Around 17,000 passengers were obliged to change their travel plans as Latin America’s largest airline Latam and several smaller ones canceled all their flights. The Minister of Labor called the stoppage illegal because the strikers are public employees. The President of the Workers’ Union explained that the strike is aimed at recovering the right to decent social security and reversing workers’ currently powerless situation. teleSUR
