Bolivia – Morales Insists on ICJ Jurisdiction

Bolivia’s President Evo Morales said he is confident in the jurisdiction of The Hague’s International Court of Justice and expressed his hope that the Court will rule in his country’s favor in the centuries old dispute with Chile in which land-locked Bolivia is seeking access to the Pacific Ocean. Chile had asked the Court to throw out Bolivia’s suit, alleging that it does not have jurisdiction in the matter, but Morales says otherwise. The Court is scheduled to announce its decision on September 24 and will not allow appeals from either side. teleSUR
