BMW India had recently increased the level of localization at its facility in India and in its stable of locally produced vehicles by up to 50%.
And, the Bavarian automaker has announced new vehicle prices. Up to eight models can be locally produced on two assembly lines at BMW facility in Chennai.
Currently, the plant manufactures 3 Series, 1 Series, 5 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, X1, 7 Series, X5 and X3. While 3-Series GT, 3-Series, X3, X5 and 5-series have got their prices reduced, some of the most significant auto components sourced for local production are transmission and engine from Force Motors.
Philipp von Sahr, President at BMW Group India stated that following our production follows the market approach, and they we have accelerated their localization program in India.
