Al-Jazeera Journalist Arrested in Germany

Ahmed Mansour, a senior journalist for the Al-Jazeera television network, was arrested by German authorities at the request of the Egyptian government. An Egyptian court convicted and sentenced Mansour to 15 years in absentia on charges of torturing a lawyer in Cairo's Tahrir Square in 2011, an accusation that Al-Jazeera says is a fabrication. The Egyptian government reportedly asked Interpol to seek Mansou's arrest, but it is not clear whether the international police body obliged. teleSUR
