Margarita Zavala, wife of former Mexican president Felipe Calderon, announced that she will run for president in the 2018 elections. Although Zavala is a member of the right-wing National Action Party, she has been in conflict with its leadership and left open the possibility of running as an independent candidate. PAN leader Gustavo Madero blocked Zavala's candidacy in the June 7 elections for the Chamber of Deputies. teleSUR
