Yum Brands Inc.'s KFC is suing three companies in China for allegedly spreading false rumors about its food on social media. The popular app WeChat was used to circulate misinformation, says KFC.
Over 4,000 posts on the app spread rumors like the restaurant chain's chickens having eight legs and six wings. KFC notes creating a chicken with such features is not possible and a feat like that would make them a contender for Nobel Prize.
According to FOX News, "KFC is demanding 1.5 million yuan ($242,000) and an apology from each of three companies that operated accounts on the popular mobile phone app WeChat. It is also seeking an immediate stop to their infringements."
