The Rishi Kapoor film Do Dooni Char epitomised the desire of most middle class Indians for a Maruti Car. The Indo Japanese Collaboration was a revolution in passenger cars in India.It invoked a great pride in all of us when we saw it for the first time on the road. Maruti is still a status symbol for the Middle Class. It symbolises reliability, quality and affordability. Even today the character played by Rishi Kapoor can be found in many middle class localities.
