This 1961 Oscar-nominated western was directed by Marlon Brando and was his only effort behind the camera. Brando plays smoldering, morally conflicted bank robber, Rio, who is abandoned by his partner Dad Longworth (Karl Malden) while they are being chased by the law. Longworth escapes with the loot and unlucky Rio is arrested and ends up in jail. Years later, filled with thoughts of revenge, Rio escapes and sets out to find Longworth, who is now a reputable Sheriff in California, living in fear of his shady past.
