Eggnog chug fail: Utah man hospitalized for three days after winning a holiday chugging contest

A man from Utah County, Utah has made a full recovery after an eggnog chugging contest landed him in the hospital for three days.

Ryan Roche gulped down a quart of eggnog in just 12 seconds during a competition at his office’s holiday party. Roche told reporters the previous record was 25 seconds.

A video of the chugging contest shows Roche leaning over and coughing after he puts down the eggnog carton.

Roche reportedly went home with a cough, but two hours later, he was shaking and struggling to breathe. A friend took him to the hospital, and he was admitted to the intensive care unit for eggnog in his lungs.

“They pretty much had to wheelchair me in, double IV, oxygen and hooked me up to what they call the nuclear weapon of antibiotics,” Roche told a KSL TV reporter.

Roche spent one day in the intensive care unit. Once he was stable, he spent two more days at the hospital. It reportedly took him a week to make a full recovery.
