Paris attacks: France to deploy 10,000 troops to boost security

France has stepped up security by deploying troops and extra police at key sites across the country following last week’s deadly terror attacks in Paris.

Police believe as many as six members of the terrorist cell responsible for the Paris attacks are still on the loose.

French authorities plan to mobilise 10,000 troops, placing them at transport hubs and tourism sites in fear of more attacks.

Approximately 5,000 police will be stationed at 717 Jewish schools around France, while extra protection will also be offered at synagogues. Extra security will also be positioned at mosques to stop possible retaliatory attacks.

France is home to the largest Jewish community in Europe. Seven thousand out of half a million French Jews moved to Israel last year citing economic and security concerns.

Meanwhile, Turkish authorities said Hayat Boumeddienne, the partner of Amedy Coulibaly, who killed four people during a siege at a Paris supermarket, arrived in Istanbul on January 2 with a male French national.

They said she stayed briefly in the Turkish cities of Sanliurfa and Akcakale before entering Syria.
